ANIMATION
I love creating scenery for 2d animation, building a simple layout or director's sketch into a detailed colourful world is so satisfying. I've worked in animation since 2019, starting with 'Mimi and the Mountain Dragon' with Factory Create. This led to work on 'Slumberkins', again with Factory Create. It was quite a big step up from my first job and I was very glad to stretch and develop my skills, becoming more confident too. Recently I worked with Flix Animation on a YouTube cartoon series 'Tag Team Tales' for LEGO DREAMZzz, which was fun working in a colourful pop-art style for the wild animation.

ILLUSTRATION
My illustrations are based on traditional drawing with strong colours and texture. I focus on buildings, food and portraits. The illustrations of buildings are all about atmosphere and detail, making us feel immersed in the scene. My food illustrations are designed to make a dish or cake look as gorgeous as possible, so really selling it for the client. Portraits are so engaging, and it's good to push myself with the drawing.
I use a Cintiq with Photoshop and textured brushes, especially rough pastels or messy ink. It's exciting to see how they look together, and it keeps the drawings lively and fresh.

My training is a BA(Hons) Degree in Fine Art, and a post graduate certificate from The Bristol Animation Course. From 2004 I worked in publishing, first at Dorling Kindersley and then Carlton Books. I was a designer in children’s reference, making a very wide range of illustrated books, from DK Visual Guide Volcano to Marble Run Rollercoaster. By 2017 I felt it was the right time to make a change of career to more art-related work, and use my skills in animation and illustration.
