Although I'm unable to show any artwork, I can tell you what was involved on this project. 1. Working with the director's sketches and animatic to make layouts. 2. Developing them into layered files and making sure each element was on the right layer. 3. Building up the scene's colour and being careful to match the style guides and original illustrator's work. This was quite complex and made me improve my skills. There was a wide range of scenery including interiors, different sorts of woodlands and a mysterious glowing forest. 4. Once the work was sent to the director there were either changes or I would go ahead with setting up the files for the compositors, and checking various technical details. 5. This project involved a lot of stamina- I painted over 300 backgrounds, many with a huge amount of layer folders and masks. The most enjoyable part of this project was working in the artistic painterly style. It was lovely to paint so much texture and detail, subtle colours and atmosphere, while improving my skills. In addition it was a great team to work with, some people were in California, one in Italy, and others across the UK.
