Mimi and the Mountain Dragon

I worked with Factory Create making backgrounds of the snowy village and mountainscape. I really enjoyed it especially the atmospheric night-time scenes, when Mimi travels up the mountain to return baby dragon to his mum. It was my first job in animation, and was so rewarding to use my painting skills for something I'd wanted to do for a long time. To work with the director's layouts then flesh them out into fully painted scenes was great, while sticking to the concept artist's original style. It all knits together well with the characters and gives a traditional picturebook quality to the film. You can watch it on BBC iPlayer.
